PSC Origin Story

Amidst the splendor of a beautiful summer morning, I was treasuring precious moments shared with my daughter at the playground. Eager to prolong these special moments, I thought it would be a nice idea to treat my daughter with a donut at the nearby coffee shop. As we entered the store, we were greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sight of rows of glazed donuts that brought a smile to my daughter’s face.

At the tender age of five, I encouraged my daughter to take a step towards developing her social skills by inviting her to place our order for both of us as we walked up to the counter. With her cute little voice she said “I’ll have a pumpkin spice donut, and my dad will have a large pumpkin spice coffee with cream and sugar, please.” In that moment, my heart swelled with pride as I watched my daughter confidently place our order.

However, my pride swiftly turned to disbelief and anger when the worker, with a loud chuckle, responded, "It's July, we don't serve Pumpkin Spice in the Summer!"

The weight of those words hit me like a ton of bricks as I saw the confusion and hurt in my daughter's eyes, her voice trembling as she asked, "Daddy, why are they laughing at me? I just want a pumpkin spice donut."

In the blink of an eye, my life's trajectory shifted as the revelation of my true purpose washed over me like a tidal wave of enlightenment. From that fateful day onward, I embarked on a relentless quest, a fervent crusade to immortalize pumpkin spice as a perennial delight. With unwavering determination coursing through my veins, I solemnly swore to defy all odds, to vanquish every obstacle that dared to obstruct my pursuit. Nothing would impede my fervent mission, for I had pledged my very soul to the cause.

With a breath drawn deep from the depths of my soul, I clasped my daughter's hand tenderly, my gaze unwavering as I imparted my solemn vow. In a voice hushed yet brimming with unwavering conviction, I whispered, "There will come a day, my dear, when you can enjoy pumpkin spice whenever you want. I give you my word." That moment marked the inception of what would become the Pumpkin Spice Campaign, the first stride in a grand odyssey destined to make Pumpkin Spice available 24 – 7 – 365.
